Abuse Policy

What constitutes abuse
Route Entry redirects can be misused. Abuse includes, but is not limited to:
- Phishing - Redirects that impersonate legitimate services, collect credentials through deception, or are designed to trick visitors into revealing personal or financial information.
- Malware distribution - Redirects that forward visitors to pages delivering malicious software, drive-by downloads, exploit kits, or unwanted applications.
- Spam - Redirects used as destination links in unsolicited bulk email or messaging campaigns.
- Illegal content - Redirects pointing to content illegal in the visitor's or operator's jurisdiction - including child sexual abuse material, content that facilitates violence, or material violating applicable law.
- Deceptive data collection - Using IP capture, device fingerprint, or geolocation steps to collect visitor data without appropriate consent or disclosure where required by law.
- Targeted harassment - Using redirect analytics or geolocation data to surveil, track, or harass specific individuals.
How to report abuse
Send an email to hi@routeentry.com with the subject line "Abuse report". Please include:
- The full redirect URL (not the destination)
- A description of the abusive content or behaviour you observed
- Any supporting evidence you can share - screenshots, URLs, message excerpts
- The date and approximate time you encountered the issue
Prefer a form? Use our abuse report form for a guided experience. Plain email works just as well.
What happens after you report
We aim to review and respond to abuse reports within 24–48 hours. For clear-cut cases - confirmed phishing redirects, malware distribution, or CSAM - the route will be disabled immediately upon verification, without waiting for the full review period.
We'll acknowledge your report by email. We may not be able to share the outcome of an investigation in detail, but we'll confirm that we've received the report and tell you when action has been taken.
Enforcement actions
Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, enforcement actions may include:
- Disabling the redirect (the URL returns an error, visitors can no longer pass through)
- Deleting the route and all associated visitor session data
- Blocking the creation of new routes from associated infrastructure if abuse is systematic
Route Entry does not provide the route creator's details (management token, IP addresses from route creation, or any other identifying information) to third parties without a valid legal requirement. If we receive a law enforcement request, we'll follow applicable legal obligations.
False reports
Submitting a false abuse report to intentionally get a legitimate route disabled is itself a misuse of this process. We review each report independently and will not act on reports that are clearly unfounded or malicious.
